WELCOME TO LAKEVIEW PANTRY!

Mark Your Calendar for the Sixth Annual Cubs Wives Food Drive

Help your community while you cheer on the Cubs! On Saturday, August 30th, each fan who donates 10 cans of non-perishable food items or $20 cash will receive an autographed photo of a Cubs player (while supplies last). The drive is open to everyone regardless of game attendance. Last year Cubs fans donated over 14,000 pounds of food and approximately $3,000 in cash -- enough to provide 400 people with a two-week supply of groceries!

  • Cubs' Wives Food Drive to benefit Lakeview Pantry
  • Saturday, August 30th, 2008
  • Gate D (Harry Caray Statue)
  • Sheffield Avenue and Addison Street
  • From 1 p.m. until the third inning

"The Cubs Wives' food drive is an essential component in Lakeview Pantry's ability to get food to those in need in our community,” said Gary Garland, executive director of Lakeview Pantry. “Not only is it our largest annual food drive, but it comes in late summer when many other sources of food are becoming scarce.  We are proud to partner with the Chicago Cubs in helping to meet the nutritional needs of our neighbors who struggle to secure food for themselves and their families.”

Fans are encouraged to bring nonperishable items such as canned tuna, canned pastas, cereal or oatmeal, coffee, peanut butter, jelly, canned stews and meats, soup, canned and packaged fruits and vegetables.

Thank You for Making the 2008 Hunger Walk A Success!

This year’s Hunger Walk was a tremendous success, thanks to the time, energy, and support from countless friends of Lakeview Pantry.  Ninety walkers participated in the event, and many encouraged friends and family to submit pledges to benefit the Pantry.  At this point, we estimate that success from the Hunger Walk will provide us with eight weeks worth of food at both our distribution sites!  To view photos of the 2008 Hunger Walk, click here
